Bill Crosier #4: PNB Misinformation & Talking about Substance

I want to correct those who keep saying (incorrectly) that Summer Reese broke a tie on whether to renew Arlene’s [Englehardt, the previous executive director of Pacifica] contract.  I’ll also state that I voted against the motion to not renew Arlene’s contract.  I wanted to give Arlene more time to cut expenses and increase listenership and membership to try to get Pacifica better stabilized, and was willing to extend her contract.  But the majority voted not to renew it.  Summer also did not vote on the motion to make her iED (also back in 2012).

I also think someone has been feeding other misinformation to various people on the Pacifica National Board (PNB) — no surprise there.  I can’t blame those people for reacting negatively to Summer, if they’re hearing inflammatory information about her.  I consider many of these people, especially from KPFT who are critical of Summer, to be friends of mine even though we’ve disagreed some.   I truly believe each of them wants to help Pacifica.  But there are some things each has said that I don’t like and that I disagree with.  But everyone should consider the source of info, that person’s credibility, and motivations for supplying misinformation.  It can take considerable time on the PNB to begin to understand that.

Another request — as some others have also said, I ask that we please Stop the Name Calling and Insults.   It’s OK to disagree with each other, and provide corrections when needed, but remember that the corporate media zealots, if they notice us at all, love it when we get angry with each other and fight ourselves rather than them.  Let’s talk about substance — there are important matters we need to worry about, and insulting each other Does Not Help.  (Please excuse me for yelling)  If you want to insult someone, insult me.  I don’t mind, especially if it’s humorous.

Note:  This is the last of four articles by Bill Crosier but it is worth repeating the closing sentences of his second article:

“My dream is that we’ll be able to move on to more important topics, like KEEPING PACIFICA ALIVE, and maybe even getting the boards to focus on boring topics that involve actual work, like getting more listeners, getting more members, getting more revenue, while remembering our mission — in other words, HELPING PACIFICA GROW.  Is it just a dream?”
