In this somewhat lengthy snippet from a lengthier meeting, Pacifica’s finance committee goes into a bit of a meltdown.
In order:
1) Chief financial officer Sam Agarwal states flatly management does not have a plan for the financial catastrophes that will shortly ensue. When pressed on who the responsible parties are, Agarwal clarifies: the station managers and the executive director.

2) Houston listener rep and disgruntled Siegel/Brazonite, Adriana Casenave introduces a motion to authorize immediate payment by debit each month from each station’s bank account of shared network services payments to the Pacifica Archives, shared network services to the Pacifica National Office, each unit’s payroll, and a 10% repayment of any back payments owed from 2015 or 2016. Casenave’s motion is voted down, almost unanimously.
3) Washington station WPFW has a consultant acting as a business manager, hired without the CFO’s approval or consent. We are told the consultant business manager cannot view the accounting records and his job performance, per the CFO, has been abysmal. The accounting records for WBAI and WPFW are being removed to the national office, further muddying what the consultant would do. CFO Agarwal states the shape of the books in Washington and in New York are “shocking”
4) Adriana Casenave launches into a lengthy monologue which ends with a loud shriek to “pay the audit NOWWWWW’.
A shriek sounds like the appropriate sound when so much is
occurring without account-abilities, responsible managements, and an “unknowing-what’s-happening membership” at each radio station.
All those who do not read here – or where else ? – what is ‘really going on’ at this blog site are then assuming that all must be in order. And listening to radio programs plus paying up some is all that is necessary. Obviously, they are ‘ignored-ant’ and do not know nor want to become more involved, probably.
Thanks- to you – for reporters, willing exposers and those who work hard to Share Actual Information, to the ‘rest of us’ too. Knowing more may also be producing anxieties, fears, and concerns, but some may become active and assist, however, even in spurts.
