KPFK Stream Gone for 106 Hours

The Internet stream at Pacifica’s LA station KPFK has been broken for more than 100 hours since 9am on Wednesday November 25th.

The breakdown is suspected to have been caused by an inept repair of the station’s program archive uploader which was out of order from November 16th to November 25th.

The uploader is now archiving programs again, but at the cost of taking out the station’s live stream over the Internet.

The station laid off their webmaster of 11 years in September, and has had a steady series of technical problems ever since.

  1. The IT person before was Johnathan Alexander. Has he been let go or time reduced that allowed this problem to occur ?
And did the Pacifica Archives people not know either ? How many holes do problems go thru to result in such unprofessional results. …which must reduce sponsor trust as well ? Questions are not to find or place blame, but to wonder how multiple dysfunctions may coalesce, and then give the impression that KPFK has already fallen.. apart.
