Wednesday night, at the stroke of midnight, LA station KPFK’s website disappeared from the Internet for about three hours, putting a sad cap on a month-long fund drive that ended on Friday 11/6 at $608,000 or $142,000 short of the goal.
Why did the website completely go down? KPFK didn’t pay the bill.
See documentation below.
This puts the station’s subscribers in a bit of a quandary. New GM Radford has scolded that “saving KPFK is up to listeners”. But when they pony up half a million dollars , the station’s basic bills still don’t get paid and crucial functions fail.
This was followed by KPFA’s website server going down a few hours later on Thursday morning. As of 12:59pm, KPFA’s website had been down for over an hour.
